Professional Background

Dr. Smith graduated from Cornell University (B.A.), Roosevelt University (M.A.) and City University of New York (Ph.D.).

Dr. Smith interned at Columbia-Presbyterian Medical Center in New York.

She started her professional career in a hospital-based mental health center specializing in learning disabilities, child and adult psychiatry.

Dr. Smith worked in the San Diego area for many years in private practice before directing the former Counseling and Psychological Services program at the California State University San Marcos (CSUSM).

Dr. Smith has taught courses at the graduate and undergraduate level at the City University of New York, San Diego State University, California State University San Marcos, National University, Livingstone College and University of Maryland University College. She is currently a clinical supervisor in the pre-doctoral internship program at CSUSM.
